It will not do your work.

What Cadent does

• Reads the course materials you connect and works out what each assignment requires.
• Breaks large work into steps and estimates how long each one takes.
• Decides what belongs on today, and says so when a week does not fit.
• Answers questions about your own materials, citing the sentence the answer came from.

What Cadent will not do

• Write your essay, your code, your problem set or any part of a submission.
• Draft prose for you to hand in, in whole or in fragments.
• Answer an exam or quiz question as though it were coursework.
• Act on your behalf inside Canvas. It reads; it does not submit.

That is a permanent design decision, not a limitation being worked on.

For instructors

Cadent is a planning tool. Its output is a schedule and a set of citations back into your own course materials. A student using it arrives having read what you assigned and knowing what it asks of them, which is the behaviour the syllabus was written to produce.

It connects through a read-only Canvas access token the student generates themselves, and it never writes to your course.
